The story so far brings us to the pandemic and the first years of my teaching. What came afterwards was still unwritten when I drafted this manuscript. I expected the same thread to continue: the determination to keep going.
This is not quite a self-help book, nor a conventional set of engineering memoirs. It is a reflection on how to act in the present so that the future does not take us entirely by surprise.
The following pages explore areas of technology that I believed deserved deeper attention. Some observations belong to their moment. The lasting question is less which tool will win and more how to understand the tools we depend on.
