It is difficult to build confidently in an environment where nothing feels dependable. Security matters because people and organisations need a reasonable basis for trusting that tomorrow’s work will still be possible.
Risk analysis helps identify what could go wrong, which assets matter and what measures might reduce the impact or likelihood of an incident. Some assessments use numbers; others use qualitative judgements. A numerical result is only as sound as its evidence and assumptions.
There is no single method that answers every question. A proportionate, regularly reviewed assessment is more useful than a reassuring number nobody can explain. Security supports growth when it becomes a continuing practice rather than a document produced once and forgotten.
