The future of infrastructure in Spain promises to be as exciting as the past. With technological advances and growing concern for sustainability, we will probably see significant changes in how we build our infrastructure. But let us not fool ourselves: it will still be construction, complete with delays, inflated budgets, and neighbors’ complaints.
One of the great promises for the future is smart infrastructure. With 5G technology, drones, and artificial intelligence systems, construction could become more efficient and less troublesome for the average citizen. Imagine a future where a drone supervises the work and ensures everything goes as planned, without needing to close the road for months. Sounds good, right? Well, in Spain that means we will keep finding ways for everything to get complicated, only now with more technology.
There is also plenty of talk about green infrastructure. In theory, the coming decades will bring more solar panels, more electric-car charging stations, and more buildings designed for sustainability. But of course, in our characteristic style, we will probably keep building gigantic roundabouts and bridges where they are unnecessary because, well, we love them!
