For the family truly to be the "domestic church," the Church must offer continuous accompaniment and integral formation that enable married couples and families to grow in faith and virtue.
Preparation for Marriage: Marriage preparation is crucial to helping couples understand the seriousness and beauty of the sacrament of marriage. The Church offers premarital formation programs addressing topics such as communication, conflict resolution, and sexuality, in order to prepare couples for a married life reflecting Christ's love for his Church.
Accompanying Families in Crisis: Family ministry must be prepared to accompany families in times of crisis, offering spiritual and practical support. The Church has developed counseling programs and support groups to help families face the challenges of divorce, addiction, and the grief of losing a loved one.
