Promoting peace is one of the Church's priorities. Through its declarations, Vatican diplomacy, and the pastoral work of bishops and priests, the Church seeks to be an agent of reconciliation in settings of conflict and division.
International Mediation: The Vatican has mediated in conflicts such as the Falklands War, peace in Colombia, and Middle East negotiations, using its neutrality and moral authority to promote peaceful solutions.
National Reconciliation: In many African and Latin American countries, the Church has been one of the few institutions capable of mediating between warring factions and working to rebuild trust in divided societies.
