Throughout history, Spain has demonstrated an incredible ability to innovate under pressure, to make everything work when time seems to have run out. This ability to improvise and get projects through with limited resources is undoubtedly one of our strengths. However, if we want to be a genuine leader in science and technology, it is time to leave behind the habit of doing everything at the last minute.
The future of science and technology in Spain is bright, but it depends on our ability to invest in talent, support innovation, and create an environment in which our scientists and engineers can thrive. We cannot keep depending on improvisation and individual efforts; we need a long-term plan allowing us to compete globally.
Because, at the end of the day, if our history has taught us anything, it is that, although we are masters of improvisation, we can achieve much more by combining that creativity with planning, investment, and support. Innovation should not just mean making everything work at the last minute; it should mean creating a better future, consistently and deliberately.
